STRENGTHENED NETWORK FOR GREATER IMPACT( STITCH)

_

ABOUT

STITCH is a program being implemented in seven African Countries with thirteen organizations. The overall aim of the project is to increase the effectiveness of the women’s movement in Africa to influence policies on women’s rights. This is especially important in preparation for 2020, which will see a global review of progress towards the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) and is a key time to influence policy implementation. YWLI is playing a key role in mobilizing Adolescent Girls and Young Women(AGYW) and leading a national campaign in Kenya as part of a strengthened commitment to Young Feminist Organizing (YFO).

The campaign analyses various policies that need reform, call for reformulation, and implementation linking such concerns to various women’s rights policies and prevention of violations such as those encompassed in sexual harassment policies.

YWLI is mobilizing actions at different levels, challenging various patriarchal notions, and encouraging public discourse in holding governments accountable for women’s rights commitments using the Maputo protocol, Beijing Platforms for Action, and post 2015 Development Framework.

The project is being implemented in Kenya, Mali, Mauritius, Rwanda, DRC, Tunisia, and Ethiopia, and coordinated by FEMNET and Oxfam.
